GARISSA, Kenya, June 6 (Xinhua) -- A roadside blast killed five Kenyan paramilitary police officers in Liboi town along the Kenya-Somalia border early Wednesday, officials said.
Garissa County Commissioner Joshua Chepchieng confirmed the 8 a.m. incident, saying the officers were en route to Liboi border point when the vehicle in which they were traveling in stepped on a landmine.
"It is true that we have lost our officers this morning in the unfortunate incident. We will provide more details later," Chepcheing said. No group has claimed responsibility for the latest incident in eastern Kenya.
