PARIS, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- A balcony in a building in the French port city of Marseille collapsed partially on Saturday, injuring three individuals, local media reported.
A 59-year-old woman and a 7-year-old boy were on the balcony on the first floor of a building, which "is apparently in good condition" when it collapsed, plunging more than one meter to the floor, Le Figaro newspaper reported.
Emergency crew said the two were not in critical condition. A female passer-by also suffered slight injuries in her foot, said the report, adding that rescue teams have evacuated the building as precaution measures.
The incident came as about 8,000 people took to the streets to protest against poor housing conditions in Marseille.
Earlier this week, five men and three women died after two buildings collapsed in the first district in Marseille near the famous Old Port.
The cause of the collapse was not immediately clear, but one of the buildings had been subject to an evacuation order.
The judicial police have opened an investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the collapse.
In 2015, a government report showed that about 100,000 Marseille residents were living in buildings which were dangerous to their health or security.
