Xinhua to strengthen exchanges, cooperation with Kyodo News

TOKYO, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- President of Xinhua News Agency Fu Hua met with Toru Mizutani, president of Japan's Kyodo News, in Tokyo on Monday, stating Xinhua's willingness to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Kyodo News.

Fu said that as important media organizations in China and Japan, Xinhua News Agency and Kyodo News have witnessed and participated in the development of bilateral relations.

The two sides should consolidate existing cooperation results, expand cooperation in the application of new media and new technologies, actively carry out coordination and cooperation under the mechanism of the World Media Summit, and jointly work to promote people-to-people exchanges, enhance mutual trust and contribute to the steady and long-term development of China-Japan relations, Fu said.

Lauding the tradition of friendly exchanges between Kyodo News and Xinhua, Mizutani expressed hope to further consolidate the basis for cooperation in the future, continue to enhance exchanges, expand areas of cooperation, and promote bilateral cooperation to achieve more fruitful outcomes. ■
