BEIJING, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- SAIC Motor has recalled 10,570 vehicles due to defective components, according to the country's market regulator.
The recall involves 10,570 Roewe RX5 vehicles manufactured between July 20 and Aug. 31 last year, the State Administration for Market Regulation said in a statement.
The rear brake calipers of the affected vehicles may not work properly in emergency braking situations, posing safety threats to drivers and passengers. The automaker promises to replace the defective components free of charge.
Sales of SAIC Motor rose 1.75 percent year-on-year to 7.05 million vehicles in 2018, totalling over 24 percent of market share.
Sales of the Roewe and MG brands skyrocketed 34.45 percent year-on-year to reach 701,900 vehicles last year.
